Karen Black


The late great Academy-Award® and Grammy nominated, two-time Golden-Globe winning Karen Black filmed this short before she passed away from cancer. Black's credits included Easy Rider (directed by Dennis Hopper, co-starring Jack Nicholson), Bob Rafelson’s Five Easy Pieces (also co-starring Jack Nicholson), The Great Gatsby (screenplay by Francis Ford Coppola, co-starring Robert Redford, Mia Farrow and Bruce Dern), Dan Curtis’ Trilogy of Terror, The Day of the Locust (directed by John Schlesinger, co-starring Donald Sutherland, Burgess Meredith and Geraldine Page), Nashville (directed by Robert Altman, co-starring Keith Carradine), Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean (also directed by Altman), The Outfit (co-starring Robert Duvall and Timothy Carey), Alfred Hitchcock’s Family Plot (co-starring Bruce Dern), Dan Curtis’ Burnt Offerings (with Oliver Reed, Bette Davis, and Burgess Meredith), Capricorn One (with Elliot Gould, James Brolin and O.J. Simpson), You’re a Big Boy Now (directed by Francis Ford Coppola) and dozens and dozens of other films, theater and television appearances. Black attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and also studied with Lee Strasberg at the Actor's Studio in New York. She was a playwright who also wrote songs for Robert Altman’s film, Nashville, for which she was nominated for a Grammy.
